10 Times WWE Tried To Recapture The Magic (And Failed)

6. The Authority: Vinnie Mac Wannabees

In compiling this list it has become apparent just how many immeasurable moments Vincent Kennedy McMahon has been a part of - such as becoming the single greatest authority figure in wrestling history. Ironically, it is the same Vincent Kennedy McMahon who is trying to imitate many of his own successes, to no avail.

Bringing The Authority in as the newest attempt at a heel figurehead of Monday Night Raw in 2013 was cursed from the get-go. The General Manager Merry-Go-Round on Raw had become so ridiculous that it was impossible to care about who was kayfabe running the show. As good a heel team as Stephanie McMahon and Triple H was, opening every show with upwards of twenty minutes of self-appreciation got tiresome in a hurry.

To boil down the Mr McMahon character to one key feature is a disservice. However, the fundamental reason that character has become so revered is down to the utter zaniness of Vince. The man went out of his way time and again to ham it up whenever he was on screen. Mr McMahon was a meme before memes, just waiting for the internet to catch up. The Authority was dull, monotonous, and frankly hard to watch.
