10 Times WWE Tried To Recapture The Magic (And Failed)
5. Ryback's Streak
There was a time in 2012 when Ryback was rather over with fans. The 'Feed Me More' chants were audibly organic, and WWE seemed intent on boosting The Big Guy by giving him a promising undefeated streak when the new gimmick debuted. As the story stomped along to a WWE title shot, the formulaic nature of each match began to wear thin.
Instead of projecting Ryback as the next big star of the PG Era, however, the comparisons to another muscular bald gentleman with an impressive unbeaten run grew as Ryback's winning ways went on. The Goldberg chants were harsh on the new Superstar although, in fairness, he wasn't exactly a virtuoso in the ring.
Ryback's routine of destroy jobber, repeat, was kept a little interesting when he began giving two enhancement talents the Shellshock simultaneously but it was never enough. WWE couldn't even get Goldberg to recreate Goldberg's WCW run. They attempted the same trick twice with Ryback, even giving him an Intercontinental title run in 2015, having him win one of the worst Elimination Chamber matches in history to seal the deal.
