10 Times WWE Were Forced Into A Money Match
5. Kofi Kingston Vs. Daniel Bryan (WrestleMania 35, 2019)
Injuries have had a massive part to play in drastically reshaping WWE's plans throughout the years and that was again in evidence in the lead up to this year's WrestleMania.
Mustafa Ali had been setting the world alight on SmackDown Live with a string of top performances in matches against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Andrade 'Cien' Almas, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio.
So, it didn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who had been investing in the blue brand to find Ali added to this year's Elimination Chamber bout on the road to 'Mania 35.
However, Ali would unfortunately be struck down by injury and replaced by Kofi Kingston, with his rumoured 'Mania feud with Daniel Bryan for the WWE title scrapped at the last minute.
This - coupled with the fans' obvious investment in Kingston - forced WWE into putting the New Day member in Ali's 'Mania spot and they instead chose to make Kingston jump through hoops for the chance to take on Bryan on the Grandest Stage.
A monstrous match between the pair was eventually booked for 'Mania 35 and it was arguably the most intriguing storyline on the card.
Yet, KofiMania would probably have never been forced into the forefront of WWE's plans if the rising star in Ali hadn't been devastatingly sidelined at the exact moment he was.
