10 Times WWE Were Obsessed With Strange Things

5. Thrusting

If you were trying to convince a friend to sit down and watch a professional wrestling event with you for the first time, out of all the things you might use to sell the sport as an enjoyable product, you probably would mention thrusting dead last, if at all.

However, go back to any era and you'll surely find it.

Some of WWE's top brass must truly enjoy a little thrust or twerk action between their rasslin' because they're often mainstays of weekly programming. Back in the Attitude Era, it was Too Cool Rikishi (more on this later) who frequently gyrated his hips and shook his bum for live audiences. In more modern times, it's the New Day, especially Big E. The act must be contagious, too, as babyface Otis joined in on the swiveling fun until he turned heel in February 2021.

Pro-wrestling is a sort of combat vaudeville where you'll witness not only in-ring action but also various forms of other entertainment. Still, there's no real good way to explain or justify the ubiquity of thrusting on both Raw and SmackDown. The best you can do is find a way to enjoy it or use the time to grab some snacks.
