10 Times WWE Wrestlers Got Burnt To A Crisp
7. Jim Ross (Raw - 14 July 2003)
Many fans recall the time Kane tried to barbeque Jim Ross, but what doesn't often make the conversation is how it all went down.
Good Ol' JR (reading lines off a clipboard) tried to reason with 'The Big Red Machine' in a stopgap office while keeping an eye on the gasoline canister in the corner. To drill home how scary an unmasked Kane was, Ross shrunk in his chair as the monster stood up and yelled, "I told you not to make fun of me!"
In a classic WWE WTF fashion, Steve Austin's glass shattered the dialogue, but rather than figure out where his Oklahoman friend was, 'The Rattlesnake' decided business was best done from the ring, opening up negotiations with "Kane, listen to me, you son of a b*tch," only to then deliver vicious threats such as "settle down."
JR screamed in an oddly repetitious cadence as he almost burned to death. Still unrushed (who needs enemies when...), Austin stood in the ring and watched his friend go up in smoke.
Ross went on to criticize the stunt, later elaborating, "Not the creative moment of the year, IMO. Truth be told, it meant nothing to anyone because it was unbelievable," in response to a tweet in 2019. In the end, WWE's version of Grillin' JR was extremely memorable, but arguably, it wasn't for the best reasons.
