10 Times WWE Wrestlers Got Burnt To A Crisp

8. The Undertaker & Kane (Raw; SmackDown - 1999)

Another addition to gimmicks WWE milked dry, in 1999 'V-Mac' and his cronies cashed in on the buzz the inferno match created the previous year. However, the company gave the match away for free on TV this time, not once but twice.

The first was a rematch between The Undertaker and Kane. Part of what made the bout between the two at Unforgiven so remarkable was the intrigue of something new and perceptually dangerous. To follow up the first inferno match, the 'Brothers of Destruction' needed to up the ante... which they absolutely did not.

Despite the flames, the match was anything but a barn-burner. What made matters worse was that both the cameras and commentators focused on a befuddled Mr McMahon, who received a teddy bear (supposedly Stephanie's) from Paul Bearer. Overexerting WWE's creative flex, the match ended when Kane's leg (not his arm!) caught on fire.

Further oversaturating with the Inferno Match, 'The Big Red Monster' once again was lit on fire after squaring off with Triple H, a contest that largely focused on Kane's friendship with X-Pac. The match wasn't a banger either, and it didn't even follow up on the "originality" of its Raw predecessor, as it was only Kane's signature glove that caught on fire (not his arm and not even his leg) and was immediately extinguished by stagehands. Ultimately, both of these Inferno Matches were standard weekly matches with fire as a backdrop.
