10 Times WWE Wrestlers Portrayed Other Wrestlers
10. D-Generation X As The Nation
Shawn Michaels’ second run with WWE was even more extraordinary when you consider how his first had ended. In a bad way, mentally and physically, doing too many drugs and p*ssing off just about everyone in the locker room, most people thought that Shawn would never wrestle again.
In his four year hiatus he missed the company’s most successful and profitable years, losing the chance to become an even bigger star and make even more money as head of a DX stable that carried on without him.
You could see it as a kind of karmic retribution for his notorious politicking and bad attitude. On the other hand, at least he missed DX dressing up as The Nation on Monday Night Raw.
Triple H and the boys rocked up as “The Crock,” “B-Lo,” etc. They sent up the enemy faction with broad performances and even broader humour while Chyna maintained her usual stoic presence in the background.
It’s a shame that they decided to do the whole thing in blackface. They even threw in a “Hey, hey, hey!” Fat Albert chant for good measure. Not a good look in retrospect, in fact not a good look at the time because this was 1998, not the nineteen forties. It was an odd and entirely avoidable choice.
Because this sort of thing is simply not OK, DX only make number 10 on this list. That’ll teach ‘em.
