When Vince McMahon allowed Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to leave WWE in 1996 he didn’t just lose two top stars, he gifted rival company WCW ‘The Outsiders,’ soon to form the NWO, the hottest thing in wrestling at the time.

Trailing behind in the Monday night wars, WWE tried to claw back viewers by having Jim Ross tease a return for the pair’s WWE gimmicks, Diesel and Razor Ramon.

Fans began to hope they really might see Hall and Nash back as Razor and Diesel on Monday Night Raw. The underwhelming payoff was a pair of ersatz fakes, all part of an equally disappointing JR heel run.

Long before he was ‘The Devil’s Favourite Demon,’ Glenn Jacobs was the man charged with pulling on Diesel’s leather trousers. Sadly he had the height for the role but little else. Jacobs would later prove himself to be a versatile performer but ‘Big Daddy Cool’ he ain’t.

Of course Jacobs would go on to establish himself as ‘The Big Red Machine’ and become a legend of the business. Sadly the same can’t be said for his erstwhile partner in crime. Poor old Rick Bognar will forever be best remembered as the equally underwhelming Fake Razor Ramon.
