10 TNA Wrestlers Who Should Have Been World Champion (But Never Were)

9. Petey Williams

TNA Championship

Owner of one of the most spectacular (or ludicrous) finishers in pro wrestling, Petey Williams deserves to be recognised far beyond his signature Canadian Destroyer. Deployed best as an angry, ultra-patriotic heel, Williams was unfortunately saddled with a number of overly-comedic gimmicks during his multiple spells with TNA - none more embarrassing than his stint as a miniature Scott Steiner.

Williams twice won the X-Division Championship, yet never really came close to capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He had a guaranteed title shot in his grasp, having won the correct Feast or Fired briefcase, but disappointingly lost it in a match with Steiner.

After debuting in 2004, Williams proved himself on the same level as fellow X-Division favourites AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Chris Sabin, helping define the early TNA style with an immaculate blend of speed, technical prowess, and high-flying ability. A reign as an insufferable heel would have guaranteed a number of classic title matches.
