10 TNA Wrestlers Who Should Have Been World Champion (But Never Were)

6. Alex Shelley

TNA Championship

The more charismatic half of one of TNA's most popular ever tag teams (The Motor City Machine Guns), Alex Shelley backed up his constant talk with an exciting in-ring style. He enjoyed just one Tag Team Championship and one reign with the X-Division title, summing up a career often hindered by injury and injustice.

Often overlooked in favour of bigger stars - in terms of both established popularity and size - the Machine Guns seemed permanently stuck in the tag team division. It must have therefore been difficult for Shelley to see his teammate, the similarly gifted Chris Sabin, win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in 2013, four years since he left to join New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Of all the names on this list, Shelley is perhaps the most rogue, having never played even a peripheral role in a feud for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, his infectious charisma and boundless energy would have made him a more than capable champ, had he ever been given the chance.
