10 Top Drawing WWE Stars In WrestleMania History

1. The Rock

Although his peak years as a wrestler were during The Attitude Era, what launches The Rock to the top of the list is what he's done in recent years along with everything he accomplished early on in his career. His drawing power as main event star was put to the test only three years removed from his WWE debut, defending the WWE Championship against Stone Cold Steve Austin. You'd think that two young up-and-comers headlining 'Mania on their own wouldn't deliver a strong buyrate, but in fact, it grossed over 800,000 pay-per-view buys, setting an all-new record until the subsequent installment. That was another event that he was in the main event for and cracked one million PPV buys. At WrestleMania 17, he and Austin broke records once again when they faced off in a rematch for the WWE title and scored a buyrate that wouldn't be surpassed for another four years. If that wasn't impressive enough, all three WrestleManias he was advertised for upon his return to WWE in 2011 reached the one million mark with WrestleMania 28 knocking off WrestleMania 23 as the highest grossing event ever. With Rock's outside appeal bringing new eyes to the product, most of WrestleMania's recent success can be attributed to the return of The Great One to the grandest stage of them all.
