10 Topics "Crossface" Movie Needs To Address

8. Steroids

Chris Benoit WMXX
WWE Network

Despite his small stature, Benoit always maintained a very muscular physique. Like Dynamite Kid, he did it with a good deal of chemical assistance.

Though most wrestling fans associate the largest and most muscular - even immobile - stars with steroids, the truth is that in a sport dominated by big men, they aren't the ones who need them most. Men like Kevin Nash and The Big Show would be seven feet tall without steroids, thus guaranteeing them a place on a major pro wrestling company's roster (which is not to insinuate that they didn't do performance-enhancing drugs - it is a business of excess). Meanwhile, Davey Boy Smith was 5'11" and 155 pounds early in his career, not the sort of person with whom WWE would have bothered.

In the wake of the Benoit murders, "roid rage" was initially blamed as the cause of the whole thing. Though steroids were largely dismissed as a possible explanation for Benoit's rampage, there's still a question as to whether they took a toll on his physical health as they were definitely in his system at the time of death. Large quantities of anabolic steroids were also found at the crime scene.
