10 Totally Embarrassing WWE On-Air Production Botches
6. The 2016 Royal Rumble
The 2016 Royal Rumble wasn't exactly a classic.
It provided a couple of cool moments, but the match was dominated by Roman Reigns' tiresome 'One vs. All' storyline, and Triple H was only accepted as a winner by virtue of not being the former Shield man.
AJ Styles' unexpected debut was the biggest highlight for most fans, but the producers botched his entrance. Instead of catching the words "I am phenomenal" as they unfolded on the Titantron, the team focused on Reigns' big, dumb facial expression. The camera then made an awkward cut to AJ halfway through his emergence from the back. It wasn't enough to ruin the moment, but it definitely removed some of the gloss.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the match's only flub. Later on, the producers cut away just as Goldust was executing an awesome scoop Powerslam on Styles, drawing a big pop from the crowd. They were then somehow able to miss Kofi Kingston's elimination as he was knocked off Big E's shoulders by Chris Jericho, who'd spent most of the match hiding outside the ring.
Not the worst Rumble overall, but the presentation was shockingly poor.
