10 Totally Random Makeshift Tag Teams That Surprisingly Ruled
5. Booker T & Goldust
Both Booker T and Goldust were doing next-to-nothing in April 2002. Goldust was competing in the hardcore division after making his comeback at the Royal Rumble and Booker had been relegated to the same division after feuding with Edge over a fictional shampoo commercial. Their prospects looked bleak, despite the fact that Booker had 'star' written all over him and had proved that he could compete at the highest level in the past. Goldust, meanwhile, was wasted as a heel: it wasn't 1996 anymore, and the gimmick was a little passé. So WWE did what it so often does and teamed them together. Their team was an instant hit. Fans and management marvelled at just how good their chemistry was together. In the ring, they were on-point but backstage they were exceptional. Their backstage segments were routinely hilarious and showed both performers' knack for comic timing. The fans were emotionally invested in the team and their chase of the tag team titles in the autumn made for great TV. Their World Tag Team Championship victory at Armageddon 2002 was an emotional, feel-good moment. Unfortunately, they only held the belts for three weeks, but still. The two stopped teaming in early 2003. Booker, whose popularity had rose during his time teaming with Goldust, went after Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship (big mistake) while Goldust adopted a Tourette's syndrome gimmick. Fans fondly remember the 'BookDust' tag team - it was special. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izRoAbfS41Q
