10 Totally Random Makeshift Tag Teams That Surprisingly Ruled
4. Rated-RKO
Just because Edge and Orton were great singles wrestlers, there was no guarantee that they would be a great tag team when they were thrown together to feud with DX. The Spirit Squad and Vince and Shane McMahon were farcical challengers to Triple H and Shawn Michaels and WWE knew they needed to get serious after months of larking around. Orton and Edge formed their alliance in October 2006 and pretty much exclusively feuded with the sophomoric DX. Rated-RKO, as they were known, felt that the old guard were preventing them from becoming World Champions. Don't you just love shoot comments that aren't supposed to be shoot comments? Rated-RKO just oozed presence and charisma. They were pretty much the only people who were allowed to look competitive against DX at the time and won the World Tag Team Championship. Their feud with DX came to a close in limp fashion, however, as Triple H suffered a torn quad at New Year's Revolution in January 2007. Better things lay ahead for Orton and Edge and they entered the title chase, disbanding as a team in May 2007. The two reunited on a couple of occasions before Edge's retirement in 2011. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdm_SzQbK8g
