10 Totally Wasted Wrestling Factions
6. Fortune
The only TNA faction in the list (sorry Aces & Eights fans), Fortune was yet another attempt to recreate the magic that had led to the formation of the Four Horsemen decades earlier. The saddest part is that the group actually had the talent within to make the story a success, but unfortunately this was TNA in 2010.
Ric Flair was with the company at this time, and the moments in which he wasn't bleeding profusely were spent mentoring AJ Styles, who at this point had won everything the company had to offer and probably didn't need mentoring. Flair went on to openly claim that he was going to reform the Four Horsemen, with Styles, Frankie Kazarian, Desmond Wolfe and Beer Money involved. All would have to earn their way into the group.
Wolfe was the only one who failed to make it into the group, and even though his talent was perfect for it a stable of the other four should have been too easy to get right. Again, TNA in 2010 specialised in messing things up, and Matt Morgan and Douglas Williams were soon added to the group. By the end of 2010, Fortune had joined forces with fellow heel group Immortal to run TNA, in a story that brought groans from all who had to watch it.
If Fortune had been booked as a group of exceptional talent, cheating when necessary but also tough enough to win on merit (you know, like the actual Horsemen), this could have been a way out of the creative mire for TNA. As it was, it cosily finds itself on the burning heap of cack that the company was putting out at the time.
