5. The Union

Formed by four disgruntled members of The Corporation, The Union were also known as U.P.Y.O.R.S (Union of People You Oughta Respect, Shane), which may tell you all you need to know. The group was actually comprised of some of the biggest names in wrestling in time. Mankind was the leader, with Big Show, Ken Shamrock and Test also involved.

They came together directly after the union (pun intended) of the Corporation and Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness, feuding with them immediately. Ridiculously enough they were briefly joined by Vince McMahon too, as well as any individual who had a beef with Shane and the Corporate Ministry. That was pretty much everyone on the roster, by the way.

The group lasted for approximately no time at all, as Mankind needed knee surgery and Vince was revealed as the higher power that had been controlling the Ministry of Darkness all along. If the group had been given time to evolve it could have turned into something interesting, but as it is they represent nothing more than the answer to wrestling-themed pub quiz questions.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
