10 Toughest Wrestling Tag Teams Of All Time

5. The Skyscrapers

The Skyscrapers Another monster heel tag team brought in to the NWA to feud with The Road Warriors, stop me if you've heard me before. Initially the team consisted of 'Psycho' Sid Vicious and 'Dangerous' Dan Spivey, towering 6 ft 9 in tag partners managed by Teddy Long. After Sid Vicious punctured a lung in a match against the Steiner Brothers, he was replaced by 'Mean' Mark Callous, a 6 ft 10 in grappler whom would later go on to have tremendous success in the WWE as The Undertaker. The Skyscrapers had some good success in NWA winning the first ever Two-Ring King of the Hill Battle Royal, and then destroying the Dynamic Dudes in the same night. They had a series of evenly matched bouts with the Road Warriors and the Steiner Brothers over a one year span between 1989 and 1990. The Skyscrapers' run did not exactly end in a blaze of glory as they were squashed by the Road Warriors in a 'Chicago Street Fight' at WrestleWar 1990. However, what makes the end of their run even less memorable is the fact that the team that the Road Warriors squashed consisted of zero members of the original team. For the match Mark Callous teamed with 'The Masked Skyscraper', a much less physically impressive wrestler named Mike Enos, whom you might remember as Blake Beverley in the WWE. All in all the Skyscrapers had the shortest tenure of anyone on this list and went through 4 different incarnations during that span. So then why are they on the list? For starters, Spivey and Sid were pushed as true monsters in a comparatively undersized territory (NWA). They came out of the gate strong and unlike some of the other teams on this list they never jobbed to lesser teams and had Sid not been derailed by a lung injury they would have likely been strong champions. Additionally, by adding 'Mean' Mark Callous to the team you have the only team who's members ever headlined a Wrestlemania, with 'Taker defeating Sid at Wrestlemania XIII.
