3. Alberto Del Rio
Prior to entering the global fishbowl of pro wrestling, Alberto Del Rio was a standout Greco-Roman amateur and set to represent Mexico in the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Sadly, the Mexican team would ultimately miss the event entirely due to lack of funding, leading Del Rio to explore professional wrestling.
Since leaving WWE in 2016, the perception of Del Rio as a tough guy of the wrestling industry has become increasingly documented. Fired from WWE for getting physical with an employee - albeit in justifiable response to some questionable racial remarks - Del Rio has had several high-profile incidents since his departure.
From a street fight ending in an alleged stabbing to a New Year's Eve bar brawl that escalated into an additional fight with his own brother, Del Rio has been the centre of some violent scenarios in recent years. A number of additional incidents have followed, notably including an attack on Mexican 'Ninja Turtle', Tortuga Rafy, at an IWRG show.
Outside of wrestling, Del Rio has also competed in 14 MMA fights, achieving a decent record of 9-5 and even opposed Mirko Cro Cop in 2003, albeit unsuccessfully. With Greco-Roman roots, MMA experience and a string of extra curricular brawls to his name, Del Rio has earned a reputation as being truly legit.
