6. Dean Douglas Wins By Forfeit...Then Loses?

Definitely a record future ECW World Champion Shane Douglas didn't want, the man holds the dubious distinction of being the shortest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, his entire run clocking in at a little under 15 minutes. It's been speculated that Shawn Michaels was scheduled to lose the belt to Douglas (then called Dean Douglas) at In Your House 4 in October, 1995, but forfeited the belt due to injuries. Shortly afterwards, Douglas would be forced to defend the belt against Razor Ramon, having the smug smile wiped firmly off his face when Ramon emerged victorious from their match, IC Title in his grasp. Just a few short months later, Douglas would head back to ECW, where he was always most comfortable - a big star in Paul Heyman's promotion, 'The Franchise' would later claim that Michaels, Ramon and their friends held him down in the WWF. Even ignoring the plight of Shane Douglas, this spat on the history of the Intercontinental gold, and was just one in a long line of times the title was needlessly vacated.
