10 UFC Fighters That Would Make Great Pro Wrestlers
5. Colby Covington
’Chaos’ is basically a pro wrestler as it is, playing up a ridiculous heel persona to get under fans’ skin. There is no blow too low for Covington, who unapologetically insults every aspect of everyone around him giving even MJF a run for his money.
After several years below the surface in the UFC, Covington revealed his dark side in October 2017. After securing a decision win over Demian Maia in São Paulo, Covington tore the country of Brazil a new one.
Since then, he’s constantly hit new highs (or lows, depending on who one asks) in promoting his fights. In 2021, Covington appears to have hit a Kamaru Usman-shaped ceiling in the octagon. Still in his athletic prime, it’s plausible Donald Trump’s favourite fighter secures undisputed welterweight glory eventually.
According to the man himself, a pro-wrestling career is a possible avenue as well. Should ‘Chaos’ move over to the squared circle, he’d be a natural heat magnet owing to his brash, tasteless promos and signature ‘Nerds and Virgins’ greeting.
His high-pressure approach to fighting could also work nicely as a wrestling style. The mixture of brawling and overwhelming grappling would likely make for intense ring work. Whether or not he gets to keep Kurt Angle’s WWE theme (his walkout anthem in the UFC) would be anyone’s guess.
Interestingly, and perhaps as a shot at his old American Top Team crew, Covington has revealed he would only be interested in WWE as a wrestler. Regardless of where he’d hypothetically wind up, it’s likely most promoters would prefer he left his copy of Donald Trump Jr.’s memoir at home.
