10 UFC Fighters That Would Make Great Pro Wrestlers

2. Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor may well be the greatest promo in all of sports, entertainment and sports-entertainment combined these days. A genius self-promoter, McGregor rode his loudmouth charisma and innovative striking style to immense success in the UFC, becoming the first fighter to hold belts in two divisions simultaneously.

Sadly, in a plotline vaguely resembling the first act of Rocky III, the wealthier the Irishman's become, the less successful he has been come fight night. In 2021, MMA's most recognisable star was knocked out in January and then outright hobbled in July. Both losses came courtesy of Dustin Poirier, a man 'Notorious' vowed he'd annihilate.

In his time away from the octagon, the cane-assisted McGregor has applied himself dutifully to weightlifting, packing on an impressive amount of mass in the process. He's even teased moving all the way up to middleweight when he returns next year.

Conor McGregor's larger-than-life personality and swagger is tailor-made for the squared circle. He's often referenced Vince McMahon's iconic Mr McMahon persona over the years and has been likened to vintage '80s Ric Flair as well. If McGregor were to make the jump, he could enter a huge money program anywhere he wants to.

Between his charisma, athleticism and current physique, the whiskey magnate could easily put it together in the ring to a respectable level. He would be a natural heel considering his braggadocious nature but could also function as a tweener or anti-heroic babyface owing to his immense fanbase.

Love him or hate him, McGregor is a master at putting on a show and pulling in crowds. It's the kind of willpower and skill pro wrestling desperately needs right now.
