10 UFC Veterans That Challenge Their Age

5. Glover Teixeira

Glover Teixeira’s late bloom into a legitimate light heavyweight contender has put him in the discussion for a title fight with Jon Jones (should Dana White and the champion sort out their pay dispute…).

A name that often flies under the radar, the Brazilian has amassed a 31-7 record, with four consecutive wins since the start of 2019. With submission victories over Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba, a decision win over Nikita Krylov and a remarkable TKO win over former number one contender Anthony Smith, Teixeira is in the form of his life, as he looks to make a late surge for a UFC title.

In a career which has included other impressive victories over the likes of Jared Cannonier, Rashad Evans, Ovince Saint-Preux and Ryan Bader, Teixeira is also a former member of the Brazilian National Wrestling Team and has competed in the WEC, Impact FC, Shooto and PFC.

With Jones evidently out of action as he looks to boost fighter pay within the company, the state of the light heavyweight division’s top rankings remains to be seen. As the #5 ranked LHW, a bout between Teixeira and the #3 ranked Jan Blachowicz has become a possibility and given both fighters’ current form, they’ll be looking to fight sooner rather than later, even with Jones’ absence.
