4. Francisco Trinaldo

A former competitor on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, Trinaldo has since been a consistently solid performer and underrated lightweight.

The Curitiba-born Brazilian is a former Jungle Fight Lightweight Champion in his home country. He is also a three-time Brasilia State Kickboxing Champion, having trained in the form from the age of 23, prior to his transition into mixed martial arts.

Despite his pedigree, Trinaldo has never had a shot at a UFC belt, with many putting his limitations to a difficult upbringing. Trinaldo was quoted as saying: “Sometimes I can’t train because I don’t have money to catch a bus and go to the academy.”

Despite this, the 41-year-old boasts a 14-6 UFC record, with notable wins against Paul Felder, Yancy Medeiros and Jim Miller. After two unanimous decision wins between December and March of this year, Trinaldo’s form may have gifted him a more notable opponent in the coming months, as he continues to age like a fine MMA wine…
