10 UFC Veterans That Challenge Their Age

3. Frankie Edgar

Despite still sitting under 40, Frankie Edgar’s services to the UFC throughout the years has earned him a place as one of the promotion’s top veterans.

First appearing at UFC 67, Edgar lost only one contest in his first 10 fights, a period which included two wins against BJ Penn. After a unanimous decision win over Penn to claim the UFC Lightweight Championship, The Answer repeated that result in his first defence, before retaining his title on a further two occasions.

Edgar’s attempts to become a two-division champion have come up short since, falling shy in two featherweight championship fights against Jose Aldo and just last year, Max Holloway. At 37-years-old and a former champion, a decision to call it quits would be expected to creep into the American’s mind, especially given his vast accomplishments.

Instead, Edgar is set to make another alteration to his career path: another change of division. Before his defeat to the Korean Zombie in December, Edgar was initially set to face Cory Sandhagen in his bantamweight debut. Having pulled out to replace an injured Brian Ortega in a featherweight bout, the New Jersey-born veteran will make the division switch against the impressive Pedro Munhoz, on the second card on UFC’s Fight Island.
