Just three days before his passing, the Ultimate Warrior, Jim Hellwig, was finally recognized by his peers and given the highest honor a former wrestler can receive, a place in the WWE Hall of Fame. No disrespect to the other inductees that night, but most fans surely turned in to see Warrior's speech and hear exactly what he was going to say after years of such a tumultuous relationship with the WWE, that included numerous lawsuits, and public mockery such as an entire DVD release aimed solely at burying the Ultimate Warrior. Despite the expectations that the Ultimate Warrior was going to go off on an insane rant and start tearing into WWE management and his former colleagues, he instead handled himself with restraint and class thanking WWE and his colleagues for his time with them and for helping him achieve the level of success he enjoyed and shape him into the man he's become. He only addressed the WWE after thanking his family for their loving support and being in his life. He told his mother that she was the one who instilled his work ethic in him, and most heartwarmingly of all he told his two young daughters that his greatest accomplishment in his life was not in the wrestling ring, but in being their father. His speech was what every HoF speech should be, filled with gratitude for his peers and fans, recognition to those loved ones in his life, and words of inspiration for the stars of tomorrow. After years of witnessing Warrior lash out in various ways, it was nice, especially now knowing what would happen only a few days later, to see him as a man at peace with the world and himself.
