10 Unbelievably Awful WWE SummerSlam Matches

9. The Undertaker & Kane vs. DDP & Kanyon (SummerSlam 2001)

Sitting smack bang in the middle of the WCW/ECW 'Invasion' of the then-WWF, SummerSlam 2001 is memorable for a cracking showdown between Steve Austin and Kurt Angle. Unfortunately, it's also notable for featuring one of the worst Steel Cage matches in promotional history. All 4 guys involved had featured in good matches during their careers, but this one was hampered by the circumstances. Instead of presenting DDP and Kanyon as strong, the booking squad decreed that they were to be slaughtered by the WWF team of The Undertaker and Kane. This was a stupid decision, less than 2 months into his WWF run, Diamond Dallas Page looked like a jobber. In fact, the guy was less of a star in the company than he ever had been in WCW. The cage bout had both the WWF and WCW Tag-Team Titles up for grabs, but that was not the main story. Fans watched in awe as the entire 'Invasion' premise fell apart. There had been excitement for the angle at the previous month's 'Invasion' Pay-Per-View, but that was long gone by the time SummerSlam aired. Such a one-sided Steel Cage match really didn't help.
