10 Underhyped Wrestling Matches That Blew Everyone Away

8. Iron Man Match: The Rock Vs. Triple H (Judgment Day 2000)

The second-ever televised Iron Man match in WWE history had a considerable shadow hanging over it, given that the first one was the masterful bout between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XII.

Wrestling for a straight hour is a major stamina test for even the most conditioned athletes like Hart and Michaels, but when it was announced that The Rock would defend the WWE Title against Triple H for an hour at Judgment Day 2000, many fans were skeptical.

There just wasn't the general belief that the pair, as talented as they were, could tell a compelling story for 60 minutes without getting gassed.

But the match was booked smartly to be the polar opposite of Hart vs. Michaels, in that it was jam-packed with eleven falls in total, effectively dividing the hour-long match into a series of mini-set pieces, while providing a few moments for the two to catch their breath.

Though largely remembered more for The Undertaker debuting his American Badass gimmick in its final moments - and in turn costing The Rock the title - it largely subverted the expectation that it'd be a sluggish, tiresome slog of an Iron Man match.
