There are many matches throughout the long and sometimes illustrious history of WCW that get recognition for their greatness. One that does not regularly have the opportunity to bask in the spotlight alongside Flair-Steamboat and Mysterio-Guerrero is the April 26, 1999 showdown between Sting and Diamond Dallas Page from Monday Nitro.

No one had any reason to believe the match would be as good as it was.

Page was known primarily for pay-per-view bouts that he had plenty of time to plan out ahead of time while Sting had been fairly obviously sluggish for years. On that night, though, The Icon returned looking to be in the best shape he had been in since 1994 while Page appeared motivated by his World Title reign.

With the top prize in the promotion at stake, the grizzled vets delivered a dramatic, high-intensity match that wowed the fans. In the end, Sting scored the win, and title, in a shocking outcome. His title reign would come to an end later in the night but that did not negate the classic roller coaster of emotions that he and Page had taken the audience on earlier in the night.
