10 Underrated Stars That WWE Should Never Have Released

6. Matt Morgan

Legitimate six foot ten beast Matt Morgan was offered a developmental deal with WWE in October 2002, and was steadily improving in the ring and on the mic, displaying an unexpected aptitude for the promo (well, he had a degree in public speaking, so perhaps not entirely unexpected). He would wrestle for WWE for brief spells in 2003/04 and again in 05, as a henchman for Paul Heyman and a stuttering bodyguard for Carlito. He was catching on.

Nevertheless, Morgan was released in July 2005, with Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis advising him to gain more experience. Morgan excelled in Japan and Italy before returning to the US to work for TNA, where he wrestled their best performers, improving in leaps and bounds, and hovering in and around the main event for five years.

Morgan decided to leave wrestling in 2013 to spend more time with his son, and left the business on a high as a polished performer and top star in TNA. Of course, had WWE persevered with him in 2004, things could have been quite different. He really was let go way before he should have been.
