7. Shelton Benjamin

Wrestling for WWE from 2003 to 2010, 'The Gold Standard' was considered one of the most naturally athletic and physically gifted men on the roster for a number of years. He'd become famous as the Money In The Bank ladder match MVP several years in a row, often dazzling with his unique stunt work, before his untimely release six years ago.

A lot has been said over the years about Benjamin's chances in the WWE, had things been different. Yes, he was underrated on the mic and phenomenal in the ring: Benjamin could pretty much do it all.

However, there's that rumoured glass ceiling for African American WWF/E performers to consider... could Benjamin have busted through it? Then there were questions about his attitude and aptitude (he was branded as lazy by man) but Benjamin should have gone a lot further than he did.

It's impossible to say just how far he could have gone, though. At any rate, Benjamin did end up back on WWE's radar in 2016 and was offered a job to return, before an untimely injury delayed matters. Hopefully WWE are still interested in using him in 2017.
