Edge retired before an extremely saddened and disheartened crowd in 2011, having previously been told by doctors that due to the severity of injuries his body had sustained throughout the years, he would no longer be medically cleared to compete as an in-ring competitor. This meant he was forced to retire at what should have been his physical peak.

This came just one night after successfully defending the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania.

The Attitude Era,'s spots were and risks were largely were much more spectacular than necessity from the force of competition. Take Edge vs. Mick Foley, for example, where at one point during the match, Edge essentially dives face-first into a flaming table while in the process of executing a spear into Mick Foley, off the apron, and through the aforementioned lumber. It had been set ablaze by Edge's own onscreen and off-screen girlfriend at the time, Lita.

So it was with much fanfare at this year's Royal Rumble, proving to be one of the few high points in a year that has been unlike any other before it.

What’s up fellow Pro-Wrestling FANADDICTS, (and yes, I’m a aware that is not the correct way to spell “fanatics,” but I thought since this was my introduction I’d ease everyone into my sarcastic sense of humor before just jumping off the proverbial high-dive.) ANYWHO, I have been OBSESSED, and not just because I legitimately was diagnosed at 8 years old with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, with Pro-Wrestling. It is BAR-NONE, my biggest passion in life. If I didn’t have to pay bills, I’d do it for free! (Work in the industry in any capacity).
