2. CM Punk - 2014
Mind, WWE’s wedding gift to Mr. and Mrs. Haas looks positively courteous when compared with the one proffered to CM Punk.
Having not been seen in WWE programming since the 2014 Royal Rumble, November of the same year saw Punk appear on Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast, where he revealed that WWE had fired him on his very wedding day.
Punk recalled: "The day of my wedding I got a FedEx in the mail, it was my termination papers. I was fired."
In fairness, there was a degree of blame on both sides of the equation. Punk had walked out of the company and wasn’t playing ball, prompting WWE to claim he was in breach of contract. That being said, he did have a number of very valid grievances – not least of which being a staph infection that the company apparently hadn’t treated properly.
Still, irrespective of what had gone down previously, it’s difficult to argue that firing someone on their wedding day isn’t overstepping the line.
