10 Unique Pitches To Save Struggling WWE Stars

While some WWE stars have never shined brighter than they have in 2024, others have been steadily dimming for a long enough time that they've started to fizzle out—or, worse, have already faded into obscurity.

It's always a shame to see someone get released when the company has given up all hope, so before that kicks in, it's worth trying out some other ideas and throwing anything at the wall to see if something sticks. For some, that could mean a heel or babyface turn, while others need to join a tag team or take their characters in entirely different directions.

While that may also be true for stars who have grown stale, but are still booked in a largely successful way (such as NXT women's champion Roxanne Perez as a heel or recent United States champion LA Knight as a less and less popular face) many others are just flat out struggling and could use any help they can get.

For the wrestlers slipping into irrelevance and/or those that have lost the spotlight altogether, is there a way to turn their careers around for the better?

From the very beginning of NXT UK, Pete Dunne was positioned as a prominent star for the brand. Eventually, he would go on to have the second-longest reign with the WWE United Kingdom Championship until he was dethroned by Gunther, showing just how impressive he could be despite his smaller size.

For some reason, when joining the main roster, he was renamed Butch. While The Brawling Brutes wasn't bad by any means, his gimmick of being effectively a feral child was awful, and when it was abandoned, he was far better off.

Yet, for some reason, all WWE can come up with him lately is for people to call him Butch to upset him. It's not the best motivator, and when he fails to win those matches, he doesn't even seem intimidating anymore. He's basically reverted back to being a small dog with a quiet bark and little bite.

Dunne needs to find his edge again and be booked as a threat while also having someone else talk for him, but shy of William Regal filling the role of his manager, the best option might be to put Dunne with Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser to refill that third spot of Imperium.

Alternatively, teaming up with Ilja Dragunov, when he's returned from injury, could pave way for a resurgence of the Bruiserweight nickname and give the tag team division a hard-hitting duo to freshen up the scene.
