3. WrestleMania VIII's Main Event Is The Only One To End In A DQ
Throughout the history of WrestleMania, especially during the Golden Era, there were a lot of screwy finishes. The big stars of the day did not want to lay down for their opponents so were more likely to resort to a DQ or count-out. One thing you would expect was for one of these finishes to happen at the main event of your biggest show.
At WrestleMania VIII, deep into steroid scandal territory, Hulk Hogan was about to take an extended break from wrestling and, instead of leaving with the visual of Hulk Hogan & Ric Flair sharing a WWF ring together, Hulk fought Sid Justice in a no-stakes main event. This match would also earn the distinction of the only main event that ended with a massive botch, but Becky Lynch's dodgy pin to Ronda Rousey at 35 also has that distinction. Hogan vs. Justice however does earn the title of only WrestleMania main event to end in a disqualification.
The original plan was for Hogan to hit the leg drop on Sid, only for Papa Shango to break up the pin causing the DQ. What ended up happening was Sid kicked out of the leg drop after Shango was late running to the ring, then manager Harvey Whippleman jumped in to attack Hogan which caused the no-contest instead. A hilarious botch, and a main event result that will live in infamy. It does make you wonder if a Hogan/Flair match would've ended the same.
