10 Unlikely Wrestling Faction Members That Totally Worked

6. Billy Gunn (The Acclaimed)

The New Age Outlaws had a brief WWE resurgence in 2013-2014, but it was never going to last. Any lingering nostalgic magic wore off after that, and it looked for all the world like Billy Gunn and Road Dogg had worked their last ticket on top. Literally nobody could've predicted that Gunn would roar back into relevance in another promotion.

AEW has been good for him. No, it's been great for him.

Sure, Tony Khan flubbed The Acclaimed when it mattered most, but Billy is still riding high as a key member of the group. He's "Daddy Ass", and the group's "Scissor Me" catchphrase has become a firm fave amongst All Elite fans. Gunn's involvement gives The Acclaimed a subtle DX vibe too, which is welcome.

Remember Billy ruining The Beautiful People in TNA by playing the role of 'Cute Kip'? Yeah, well that's yesterday's problem. In 2024, Gunn is loving every second of his run next to Anthony Bowens and Max Caster. Their union isn't one anyone saw coming in advance.
