10 Unlikely Wrestling Faction Members That Totally Worked

5. Rick Rude (D-Generation X)

Rick Rude's time in D-Generation X wasn't very long. He re-debuted in the WWF as an "insurance policy" for Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Chyna in August 1997, but was gone shortly after the screwjob antics at Survivor Series mere months later. 'Ravishing' left for WCW, and memories of his time in DX faded.

That's a pity, because it was a masterstroke move.

At first, some probably scratched their heads at the visual. A suited and booted, corporate-looking Rick hanging around with three degenerates more likely to stuff bananas down their tights or crack fart jokes? Somehow, that odd dynamic worked, because Rude was never asked to join in on the sophomoric humour.

He was only there to make sure nobody could stop Shawn, Hunter and Chyna from indulging. That was especially true of HBK and Trips. The "insurance policy" gimmick might've been a nod towards his own Lloyds of London policy after suffering injuries. "Might've been" is an understatement there. It was far too literal!
