10 Unlikely WWE Champions With Hugely Memorable Title Runs
4. Eddie Guerrero
Eddie Guerrero is widely regarded within the business as one of the greatest performers in wrestling history. A skilled technician with an infectious personality, 'Latino Heat' had all the tools to make it wherever he went.
Regardless of his gifts in the ring, his size was often considered a hindering factor, particularly in the 'Land of the Giants' that was the WWE. At 5'8", Guerrero was considered a little on the small side for the main event scene. However, in 2004, when Royal Rumble winner Chris Benoit jumped from SmackDown to Raw, the blue brand held their own Royal Rumble for a title shot at No Way Out. Guerrero won and booked himself a ticket to superstardom.
Squaring off with Brock Lesnar at the PPV, the pairing seemed like a monumental mismatch yet, miraculously, Guerrero slayed 'The Beast' and walked away as WWE Champion. When Guerrero won, he instantly shot into the stratosphere of the main event scene, flying the flag for Latin America.
As a smaller, more agile champion, Guerrero was more in-line with the 'HBK' mould of the '90s and a stark contrast to Lesnar's typical, big guy champ. Guerrero's luchador style and athleticism led him to classic title defences against the likes of Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XX, before he eventually lost the gold to fellow main event newcomer, JBL.
