10 Most Unlikely WWE Comebacks Of All Time

8. The New Age Outlaws

Oh, you didn't know? The New Age Outlaws were one of the most popular acts of the Attitude Era and made the WWE millions of dollars. In the ring, they had a formula and it worked. They were on top and flying high. A little too high, as it turns out. Road Dogg had a drug problem. A bad one. So bad that WWE were forced to fire him in early 2001. Billy Gunn also had a bad drug problem, but lasted a little longer than his team mate. He was fired in 2004 after he passed out at an airport. Road Dogg had been performing in TNA since his release and Gunn joined him in 2005. Both men were heavily critical of WWE and, specifically, Triple H, when giving interviews after their releases. An RF Video Shoot Interview that they gave that year was especially venomous and the Outlaws made many unsavoury accusations about the company and the bosses son-in-law. The Outlaws made their feud with Stamford even more public when they brought it to TV as the Voodoo Kin Mafia (VKM, geddit?). They even issued a $1m challenge to fight, for real, Shawn Michaels and Triple H in 2006. So it was surprising, then, that after all of this very bitter and very public trashing by Gunn and Road Dogg, they were welcomed back with open arms in 2012. They even won the Tag Team Championships and had a WrestleMania match with The Shield. To their credit, The Outlaws have cleaned up their acts in recent years and have publicly apologised for their behaviour a few years ago. James now works as a road agent while Billy works as a trainer for NXT.
