10 Most Unlikely WWE Comebacks Of All Time

7. Eddie Guerrero

There are few stories in wrestling as inspirational as Eddie Guerrero's WWE comeback. Eddie went from bankrupt drug addict to WWE champion in just a couple of years, winning the hearts of millions of fans along the way. Guerrero was a mess in 2001. Having tried to make it to the WWF for years, suffering through an increasingly demoralising spell in WCW, Guerrero blew it when he finally made it to the big time. Things went well initially and Guerrero showed hitherto unseen charisma as Latino Heat alongside Chyna. But soon, the cracks started to appear. Eddie had a drug problem. He had overdosed in the past and nearly died when he crashed his car on New Year's Eve in 1999. The crash wrecked Eddie's body and he needed pain medication to get by. Eddie became addicted. He was sent to rehab in May 2001 when he turned up for an event in 'no condition to perform'. Rehab was hard but Eddie knew it was rehab or unemployment, so he worked hard at his sobriety. Unfortunately, the pressures of work and his imminent divorce from his wife Vickie caused Eddie to relapse and he got a DWI after crashing his car into the gate of his apartment complex. He was fired by the WWF and hit rock bottom. But Eddie was nothing if not a fighter and, little by little, he began to repair his tarnished reputation on the indie scene and in Japan. The reformed Eddie was hired back in April 2002 and quickly became one of the WWE's most consistent and entertaining wrestlers. His WWE Championship triumph over Brock Lesnar at No Way Out 2004 signalled the culmination of all of Eddie's hard work and struggles over the years. Eddie's comeback was unlikely to many. Although he was no doubt extremely talented, many people assumed that he wouldn't be able to get his life back in order and that he would fade into obscurity. Eddie proved them wrong.
