10 Untouchable WWE Stars Who Got Special Treatment

3. Brock Lesnar

Musclebound new main event hope Brock Lesnar worked 137 matches for WWE in 2003. Add the 18 bouts he wrestled in 2004 before leaving onto that and you've got a staggering total of 155. Here's something astonishing: Brock has worked 79 matches ever since. He performed in those between his 2012 return and (apparent) 2023 exit. Depending on the outcome of ongoing legal issues, there's a chance that's a wrap on Brock's in-ring WWE career.

Vince McMahon didn't let too many wrestlers work that kind of limited schedule a decade or so ago. Brock was a special attraction to him, and it became fairly clear that WWE needed Lesnar a hell of a lot more than he needed them or their money. Thus, he could dictate his own diary. Things went further than that. Brock could also dictate who he did or didn't want to work with too.

Here's an example: Jinder Mahal lost the WWE Title in 2017 because Lesnar didn’t want to work with him at Survivor Series that year. AJ Styles won the belt in the UK, then wrestled Brock on the pay-per-view instead. That probably irked a few people on the roster, especially considering Jinder was a full-timer who had worked hard to turn his fortunes around. Nobody's defending his reign as champ, but still.

Conversely, Brock was on a seriously limited schedule earning megabucks whilst others had to grind away weekly. Those are the perks of being a big star and a McMahon favourite, it seems. Lesnar wasn't the first big name to call his own plays, and he won't be the last.
