Batista has built some serious Hollywood momentum in recent years, but his acting career started long before he'd called time on his wrestling career. He made his acting debut on an episode of Smallville back in 2006, and appeared in his first movie alongside Rob Van Dam in 2010's Wrong Side Of Town.

It wasn't until 2014's Guardians Of The Galaxy that Batista was able to work himself into mainstream Hollywood consciousness, however. Sharp, witty, and irreverent, Guardians' unpolished charm made it a huge hit with fans and critics alike, and Batista was a surprising hit as the lumbering Drax The Destroyer.

Rather than falling into typically uncharismatic "dumb muscle" tropes, Drax's character was full of deadpan humour and surprising emotional depth. The first film saw him swear revenge on the titan Thanos for killing his family, and while he didn't succeed in the original, he'll surely be on the warpath in the second, with Batista promising a "less metaphorical, more badass" Drax The Destroyer this time around. Thanos isn't expected to appear in Guardians 2, but we're sure Drax will find plenty of other opportunities to throw his weight around regardless.

As was the case during the original film's build-up, the plot remains closely-guarded. Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax, and the reborn Groot will reunite once again, and the film is expected to see Star-Lord reunited with his father, but that's about all we know. That doesn't matter, though: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 isn't likely to disappoint on it's May 5th release.
