10 Upcoming Wrestling Stories That Are Already Doomed
5. 'Unproblematic Icon' Saraya
AEW has found a good act in Harley Cameron and Saraya. The former has grown immensely as a television performer since her start in QTV and with the former Women's Champion, she has tangible onscreen chemistry and good comic timing. It is the most natural Saraya has felt since debuting in New York City, and definitely a step ahead of the derided Outcasts act, from which the Cameron union grew.
Saraya recently labelling herself AEW's 'Unproblematic Icon' is an unfortunate warning flag, but more to do with her partner - controversial Falling in Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke - than Saraya herself.
Radke is openly transphobic, makes liberal use of slurs, and admits that he's "literally racist". He also owns a long list of allegations and served two-and-a-half years in prison after violating the terms of a five-year probation when a man was shot and killed during a fight Radke had arranged with one Marcel Colquitt in May 2006.
These are not Saraya's crimes, but this is what the 'Unproblematic Icon' nickname is attempting to lean into. If allowed to blossom into a full gimmick, it will surely result in some of the most toe-curlingly cringe-worthy content ever.
