10 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 30)

A night of tears and celebration for the life of Brodie Lee.

Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite was not really about feuds or furthering ongoing storylines. It wasn't about ego, star ratings or even particularly great wrestling. AEW didn't tease the first pay-per-view of 2021 or even try to paint themselves as the best wrestling promotion out there.

Dynamite was about Brodie Lee and his love of pro wrestling. It was about family, community and coming together to both mourn and celebrate the life of a fallen friend. AEW's latest did its best to put across just how much Brodie meant to so many, and the company did everything to inspire hope for the future of Lee's family with a touching send off.

In short, it was one of the most emotional nights one can remember.

There were surprise returns, impassioned speeches and tears aplenty. The actual matches were booked by an eight year old kid who, having just lost his father, wanted to see some of his favourite wrestlers do their thing on a night dedicated to dad.

F*ck the 'Downs'. Pro wrestling has had enough of that lately. This was the perfect show of respect from those who knew Jon Huber best...
