10 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Nov 4)

5. Sammy Guevara Comes To Life

MJF Ortiz
AEW

What a hot opener this was.

The action came thick and fast as Sammy Guevara erupted following MJF and Wardlow's heat segment on Ortiz, with 'The Spanish God' entering the kind of dynamic, blitzing performance we've seen from him countless times before. Guevara was electric here. A ball of energy from the moment he entered the ring to when Matt Hardy launched a chair at him (disguised as Serpentico), Guevara set the room on fire with big dives and big bombs. He hates MJF. The last thing Sammy wants is for Max to usurp him as Chris Jericho's favourite protege, and this dynamic was on full display here.

Also on display was the MJF/Wardlow dynamic, as Wardlow did the heavy lifting for his employer early on, with Max only tagging in when Ortiz was in complete control. This is their relationship in a nutshell.

MJF got the win in the end, tapping Ortiz out with the Salt of the Earth after some effective arm work throughout the bout. With the action hot and the storytelling on point, it's impossible to call this anything but an Up.
