10 Ups & 12 Downs For WWE In 2020 (So Far)

1. The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever

Look, it wasn't "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever." That was an outrageous label to saddle any bout with, and WWE would have come in for immense criticism had Edge and Randy Orton not delivered something world-class at Backlash 2020. Fortunately, they did.

Chalk it down to the heavy editing if you want, but Orton vs. Edge was an outstanding bout between two old pros who knew exactly what they wanted to do, and delivered with aplomb. Long without feeling overly so, the only source of frustration was the pipped-in crowd noise, which added nothing to a bout that would have shone brightly without it, begging the question of why, exactly, WWE decided to go with it in the first place.

Nonetheless, Edge and Orton did the damn thing. This was a psychology-rich, story-driven epic in which the performers made you feel every little moment, the likes of which we may not see again for a long, long time.

Five goddamn stars.
