10 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 1)

5. From The Shadows

Jake Roberts
AEW

It's hard not to worry about Jake Roberts when listening to him croaking these promos out these days, though the man continues to project menace like nobody else in wrestling.

Remarkable is what it is. Roberts is an all-time great character and talker but decades removed from his prime, and his real-life battles once came close to ending him. Yet here he is, standing in the shadows, telling Cody that hell is fixing to break loose, Lance Archer is going to destroy whatever he'd cooked up, and that he held all the cards, with Archer his ace - and it's totally believable. That aura will never die.

Though his age and health likely prevents Jake from travelling to AEW shows until the global situation blows over, he can still contribute this way. His diatribe was a fine appetizer for what was about to come.
