Sami Callihan suffered a legitimate injury at the latest IMPACT tapings, breaking his ankle and both the tibia and fibula in his left leg. He'll be out until spring 2022 at the earliest.
That IMPACT was able to create a worthwhile story out of this, rather than simply airing the match/segment where he suffered the gruesome injury, is a testament to the current creative process in the company. The former World Champion was seen being stretchered out of the venue, cheered on by IMPACT fans, as it was explained he'd been attacked by Moose and W. Morrissey. Thus, Moose would be barred from ringside during Morrissey's Street Fight against Eddie Edwards.
Losing Sami for close to a year will cause considerable damage to IMPACT's programming, while also allowing a major story for when he ultimately returns. This is a simple story to follow, but it delivered everything it needed to. Moose and Morrissey are now completely established as a killer tandem.
