10 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2020 (Part 1)

Downs...

2. Slogging Away

Rebellion didn't get off to the best start possible, with the show-opening bout pitting Rhino, Tommy Dreamer, and the returning Crazzy Steve against the oVe trio of Madman Fulton and the Crist brothers was a bit of a slog to sit through.

For starters, the match was contested under normal wrestling rules, as opposed to a weapons-based environment that you would have expected from a match involving these six. The action itself was alright, with Madman Fulton in particular just chucking bodies around the ring and ringside area, but nothing you'll ever remember this time next week. Unfortunately, the commentary (which was provided by Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne for this show) actually took away from the match slightly as Mathews constantly got Dave and Jake Crist mixed up, despite them having vastly different hair colours.

Rhino trod into Dave Crist with the weakest of Gores to bring an end to the match. Not the worst match of all time by a long margin, but not exactly the type of match we're used to opening Impact Wrestling's pay-per-views/bigger shows. Hopefully next week's second part opens with that tantalising four way X division bout.
