10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 17)

3. Another Superbly Layered Segment Of Pro Wrestling Television

FTR Young Bucks
AEW

Not since the days of dial-up internet has the world witnessed an image as goddamn sexy as the Young Bucks and FTR registering the moment just before they executed tandem spike piledrivers of beautifully contrasting origin.

This was every shade of f*cking fantastic. In using similar moves borrowed and named after the Brain Busters and Dave Meltzer, respectively, the Bucks and FTR highlighted their profound philosophical differences and that which unites them: brilliance.

The visual power of physical storytelling perfected, the mystery deepened exquisitely.

Why are FTR saying one thing - that they want to punch the Young Bucks in their mouths - and doing quite the opposite by saving them from harm?

AEW is crafting a rivalry based on respect and hatred simultaneously, and that tweet was prescient, all right. This is glorious before the match has even happened. Rejoice!

This segment did take its time to become as brilliant as it did - the picture got a bit busy with the Butcher, the Blade and FTR - but Bucks Vs. Superbad Squad built to an awesome finishing sequence in which the scintillating near-falls scored by the lower team were earned through the at-times overwhelming schmozz of it all.
